Empowering Women: We take pride in our partnership with women from rural communities in El Salvador. Through training and stable work, we empower them to be self-sustainable and confident, leading to a ripple effect of well-being for their families and communities.
Fairtrade: Supporting fair trade norms, we ensure that our communities receive fair payment, often four times more than the standard earnings in rural areas. We also guarantee that no child labor is involved, valuing diversity and inclusivity.
Innovative Design: Our constant pursuit of reinvention leads to contemporary and innovative designs that meet the ever-evolving market demands while preserving artisanal techniques. We find beauty in the unexpected and showcase the complexity of our culture through unique and original products.
These handwoven hammocks are brought to life by the "Hand-Woven Stories Community," a group that weaves cultural heritage into every thread. With stories passed down through generations, this community preserves traditional techniques that have become a part of their cultural identity.
Guided by artisanal master Don Ciro Castro, this community keeps the technique of weaving in lever looms alive. Don Ciro learned this art from his father and continues to pass it down to new generations. Today, they produce the textile accessories designed by Lula for your home.
By choosing our handwoven hammocks, you not only experience true relaxation but also contribute to a sustainable and empowering cause. Join us on this journey to redefine comfort, preserve tradition, and empower communities. Make a conscious choice today and experience the difference.

SCHOOLING
58% of the people that live in rural areas in El Salvador live in overcrowded conditions. When there is overcrowding in families, there is a higher risk of certain problems occurring, such as domestic violence, family disintegration, poor school performance, among others.
300 SALVADORANS TRY TO MIGRATE TO THE UNITED STATES DAILY DUE TO LACK OF WORK OPPORTUNITIES.
When Lula Mena began working in rural communities, many of the young women wanted to immigrate to the United States. Now that they have seen that there is an opportunity for a better life in their community, their perception of immigration has changed. They feel more confident that they will be able to provide for their families without having to leave the country. We want to continue to grow in order to offer more young adults the opportunity to work with us and avoid immigration.
One of the major challenges we faced when we began working with women was gaining the approval of their husbands. Most of the husbands and family members worried that the women would not be able to work and meet the household’s responsibilities.
Now, their husbands prepare dinner, take care of the children, and offer them support. There is still a strong sexist culture, “machismo”, in rural areas of El Salvador that we are trying to change by empowering women.
